David Burns - Founder

​

The Flyer Watch Company was co-founded by David Burns, whose experience spans over 15 years in the aviation industry. David’s journey began as a bush pilot in Indonesia, flying a Cessna Grand Caravan C208B for Susi Air. He then advanced to flying Boeing 737s, where he currently serves as a Line Training Captain and Type Rating Instructor for a major European airline. Amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, David pursued and earned a BA (Hons) in International Business with Aviation from Munster Technological University, Ireland.

David’s firsthand experience of the challenges aspiring pilots face, from the financial burdens to the daunting task of securing that first job, inspired him to create The Flyer Watch Company. More than just sell high-quality, aviation-inspired watches, David is dedicated to giving back to the aviation community. Through scholarships and charitable initiatives, The Flyer Watch Company aims to help dreams take flight.

David's commitment to the aviation industry is further reflected in his active memberships in the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Honourable Company of Air Pilots. Outside the cockpit, David is an avid traveler, and enjoys spending time with friends and loved ones. His passion for helping others is evident in his charitable endeavours, including running the London Marathon for UNICEF.
